The Doberman Pinscher is known to be energetic, watchful, fearless and obedient. They are ready to give quick alarm (and back up that warning) but is also affectionate, obedient and loyal. The breed requires regular exercise, but needs only minimal grooming for their short coat.

Our Isabella is our pride and joy within our family and friends. At just alittle over a year she is very loving with the kids and ready to protect anyone in the family should she see any threatening behavior. Her best friend is a Nep. Mastiff who is double her size. She can out run and manuver around him with child like ease long with us anytime she wants to play. If you have time for regular exercise and training the Doberman is a great choice for a new member of your family..

ohh, is she a Red Doberman? My DH had one when we met. Unfortunately he had to re-home her because she hated my cats :(

Yes Bella is a Red / Rust Dobie.. We got her in Florida (she was my last years Valentine's Day Present) and moved t ohio after that.. She only likes the orange tiger cats .. all the others know to stay out of the yard~

Tried for another this year but arent able to drive down and pick her up a friend.. Sigh I want a blue male and the breeder (a very dear friend of myDH) has one who isnt related :(

I love dobies. I have had 2 both males and black and tan. They are the sweetest dogs.

The second one and I did Obedience we where working on Utility when I lost him at 6 to cancer . He was a Warlock- this is the large over 100+pound dog, they also have a crest like bone on there skull. His vet cried when he had to put Sauron down, he loved that boy.

Be warned there is 2 very common health problems with the Dobies.

Heart problems are common. My first one died at 3, one night he went to bed health and the next morning he was dead. Please have your vet check the heart of all Dobies for enlargement of the heart. It is more common in males but I have heard of a couple of females that had it.

Also cancer is a big problem.

Just wanted to dive in here. I have a female dobie and her name is Contessa, she has floppy ears also. She's a Mommies girl but she loves Daddy too. They are just such wonderful dogs and would never ever bite unless she was protecting our family. I am going to post a pic of her relaxing, Do your dogs do this?

Ok ..... my girl needs a toy that she can not break or chew through any suggestions?

I bought her this plastic egg shaped toy that you put food in and as she plays with it the food comes out.....well when no more food came out she threw it up in the air and the two sides seperated and she chewed up the slotted ends that make it go together so no more toy.

'Bout 30 years ago, I worked 2-10PM at a convenience store in what was still a fairly undeveloped area; mostly new residential construction and small farms. Kinda quiet, but easy access to the Interstate. My bosses got a Dobie specifically to keep behind the counter with the clerks. All of the regulars knew he was friendly, just don't try to go behind the counter. No big deal and the area kids thought it was really cool to come to the "candy" store and see Luke. But you can imagine reactions of strangers coming in when that head popped up at my hip. Blinking

The bosses lived the equivalent of two blocks behind the store. Luke got loose one night while they were walking home after we closed and a car hit him. I had never cried for an animal before. Did for him.
You are free to choose. You are not, however, free from the consequences of your choice.
