I lost him on the 26th of January 2010. I miss him terribly. He was the best cat in every way that I have ever had.

He was a long haired exotic and had the sweetest personality of any cat I have ever owned and I have owned many in my 73 years. I am going to search for another of that breed as soon as my heart ache recovers sufficiently. Right now I am still crying. That picture was taken by Melody of DG fame. It is a good one, isn't it? He had the softest fur you can imagine. It reminded me of rabbit hair.

Elena, I am so sorry for the loss of your Sugar Baibee. He sure is a beautiful boy and I know you will miss him terribly. My husband and I lost two of our kitties last year, one in March and another in May. We've never had exotic breeds, our fur babies have always been strays who seem to find us. Our Cali who passed in May was the sweetest cat who had ever owned us. She had the best disposition and was so loving. We still have one kitty left in the family now, Princess who had been my Mom's baby. She's an only "child" now and is happy to be receiving all of the attention!

The pain of your loss will fade over time and you will have your memories forever. Sugar Baibee had a wonderful home and I know he loved you and that you took good care of him and loved him, it shows in that great photo! He is now in heaven with lots of furry friends to keep him company and I know it must be lonely for you without him, especially since he just passed a few days ago. Just know that you are not alone, we all feel your sadness and pain.

Relax. It's only a small setback.
I add my condolences Elena. Sugar Baibee was a handsome fellow for sure. Love his chin marking: It makes him look like a wise professor. Your loss is still so recent, no wonder you have tears. We've had quite a few cats over the years but there's always a special one when lost, who leaves a particularly big hole in one's heart. :(
Take good care and remember him fondly and often.

Angele I love your crazy photo! Captures "essence of frenzied attacking cat" so well!

Here's our beloved Roxy in her last hour. She looks so old, but was only 9 and very, very sick. She had many wonderful qualities as a pet and a whole lotta fur earning her the nickname of Fuzzy.

Yes, his markings were just beautiful and he was very smart. Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. I just wish I could fast speed myself into the future about 2 or 3 months from now when it will be easier. I know that grief gets easier over time but right now it is ROUGH! I love the picture of Roxy. She looks like she was a real sweetheart. Has she been gone long?

Lin, I'm sorry for your two kitty losses too. I missed that earlier. Even the not-so-nice cats we've had who have departed, I still miss them and their not-so-nice ways :)

Roxy was euthanized in late April after a multitude of rapidly developing untreatable problems, but I still occasionally look for her welcoming, wagging fluffy tail when we pull up to the house.

Elena, perhaps you will find another cat in due time, but never the equal. They're all so different. Right now you need to ponder the wonderful Sugar Baibee for all his finest qualities and I'm sorry again for your loss. The pain will fade in time like Lin said, but the good memories last a lifetime.

Thank you Poochella. Yes, you are so right. It is just going to take more than the few days I have had for this to lighten up a bit for me. It won't even be a week until Wednesday evening.

Poochella: Your Roxy is a beautiful girl. In your profile picture she reminds me so much of my sisters Golden named Sugar who just passed last week. It's so hard when we lose one of our fur babies , we've lost many over the years and it hurts so much for awhile, but eventually the pain and sadness fade, and the day will come when you find yourself smiling with a memory of fun times you had with them.

Thanks Lin. I believe I read about your sister's dog Sugar on another forum? It's such a hard time, leaving big gaping holes in one's day and environment, same as Elena is going through now.

One thing though, for me, when an animal is so sick and miserable living, then I'm glad their time to go is obvious and that that can be accomplished humanely. It's no fair for them to be miserable but it's no fun to miserable when they're gone either. I hope your sister and family have lots of Sugar memories- they really help get through the rough time of loss. We have put Roxy in the annals of historical dear pets and tend to the current furry family members now with equal love.

There are so many animals out there that need good homes. Did you notice how many profiles of "Cubitsers" have "gardening, pets...." listed as interests. I think we're all soft-hearted nurturers by nature.

I wm searching for one now. Sugar Baibee was a Long Haired Exotic and that is what I want again but they aren't easy to find. Considering their link back to Persians, it is tricky finding one and knowing that heart murmer problems aren't present. So many Persians have that problem these days. I have had blue Persians most of my life and that wasn't a problem until recent years. If I could find a lovely Blue Persian I might go that route but now I really prefet the dispositions of the exotics. I really don't want to get one sight unseen either. I have always been able to choose the kitten I want by the individual personality and not by just looking at a picture online and reserving it. I don't want them flying one to me either. I don't think that the snub nosed kittens need to be flying. We can't possibly know what that does to their little ears, noses, etc.
