Sugar and Spice Pecans (or Walnuts)
Ingredients

2 TBSP margarine or vegetable oil
8 cups pecan halves or pieces (or walnuts or combination)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp allspice
1 c sugar
3 TBSP water

Instructions
Spread margarine or oil on two jelly roll pans or baking sheets. Spread nuts in a single layer and sprinkle lightly with salt.
Combine cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. Sprinkle half over nuts.
Bake nuts at 300 degrees for 10 min or until they snap when broken.
Combine water, sugar, and remaining spices in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring. Cook to 238 degrees, soft ball stage,
Pour hot syrup over nuts and stir quickly to coat. Spread nuts on baking sheets to cool.
When completely cool, store in airtight containers.
