Ok any one interested in doing a swap??

blocks?? what size....12"?? or something different?

a row or a round robin?? (this would be my choice, I always wanted to do one)

chime in with your thoughts and interests...and we will get something going Lovey dubby

I am always ready for another quilting swap Big Grin

speak up every body what would you like to do????

the image here is from about.com quilting...was actually done as a mystery quilt, but shows a few good examples of ways to make rows., or rounds
http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpatternsprojects/ss/2009_m...

rows, or rounds could also be done in any type of border design, and / or with any block designs, and / or with stripe design fabrics...

OK, so it seems Y'all would be good with doing a row robin Hurray! Hurray!

sew.....heres a few of my thoughts......

each participant could pick their own theme, or colors???

or we could all decide to do the same theme ??

we need to decide on a size, width wise for total size of row......or length if you want your rows vertical?? we need to decide on a time frame

my thought is to NOT be specific on any block sizes...let the quilter decide what size blocks he/she will use to create the row

use any block design/s you want , to make your row...as long as it is within the recipients color choices / theme (like Jaye will say no pinks please)

PLEASE make sure the fabric is 100% cotton If in doubt, don't use it.
Selvage edges should be cut off prior to cutting for blocks
If you are concerned about the possibility of a color bleeding please pre wash it
Do not use any spray starch on blocks, spray sizing is OK.
You will make ONE ROW for each participant, and one for yourself
Remember after you finish a project we want to see your results!!
It is your responsibility to be sure every one has the correct address for you.
You may start mailing as soon as you finish a row
Please be sure to put your user name and real name on the ROW that you send . You can pin it on, or use a little sticky note. Address labels are great. you could also use a pigma pen carefully along a seam allowance...

did I forget anything???

That sounds good, just need to decide on the size. I like the 12 inch block size, but what size sashing do we include? Guess that is to be determined yet?

Or we could send as many blocks as needed to make a row and let the recipient do the sashing to tie the blocks together. That way sashing would be the same throughout. Just a thought>>>>>I, too, like the 12" (12 1/2" unfinished) block size.
I'm thinking maybe 4 blocks across and 5 rows down????

A row robin is just that ...rows.....quilters make a row, how ever they wish, as long as it is within the colors / theme asked for....

recipient puts the rows together, with sashings, or not, as they wish.....

when you make a row, you can do it any size block you want to make, as long as it comes out the length needed.....

if you look at the pictures I have posted you can see most rows do not have sashings between the blocks, but do have it between the rows.... google row robin quilts...and you can see tons of examples...

a couple examples of block sizes for rows..............

10'' x 10'' blocks five across, seven down...with two borders, No sashings, border 1 cut at 2 1/2'', border 2 cut at 6 1/2...........would be 66'' x 86''

4 1/2'' blocks , 9 rows across, 10 down....two borders, no sashings, border 1 cut at 2 1/2'', border 2 cut at 5 1/2''............50'' x 54''

keep in mind if someone does say 12'' blocks, for a row....and some one else does 6'' blocks for a row...it will still go together...as long as we pick a common length...and stay close to that..........

JMHO ....rows of blocks of various sizes...would make a very interesting quilt....I do not think they all have to be the same...
