New plant room |

Thunder, are those daisies? No daisies here. Might have to get some pots of those for window treatment. Cinco De Mayo is over, but this rose here is called "Fiesta". |
John F. Kennedy. My oldest rose that's very resistant to bugs. |
Now this is supposed to be Tropicana. Planted this about 7 years ago. It was producing what Tropicana tea roses should look like, until 3 years ago, when it revert to its' parent stock. I guess...it was grafted on a floribunda. Guess that's why it's called 'hybrid'? We left it alone.. not disappointed at all, as the blooms are prolific and it became very bug resistant too!! |

Beautiful Jaye ![]() gerbera daisy |
I planted some new rose bushes. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby don't know if they each have one bud one them. This rose bush my late hubby gave to me years ago I think it is called Joseph's Coat |
Beautiful flowers everyone! Jaye love that white rose. I have never seen a white one down here. Will have to go and look for one. |
LK, if you can find a JFK, it will be good for you. It's actually a climber. Cindy, I had a Joseph's Coat, and it bit the dust!! Those darn Japanese Beetles!! I love Gerbera Daisies. They are the royalty among daisies. Will have to go to the box store this weekend for some. This here is old fashion Nelly Moser. |

Beautiful flowers all. The only roses I have had any kind of success has been the Knockouts. I be tired!!! I came home from Dothan to find a trailer full of old bricks sitting in my yard. My yardman had asked me if I was edging one of my beds with brick but I told him I didn't have enough. Well he was on his way to the dump yesterday and took a side trip to my yard. 620 of those suckers and I should know--unloaded every one of them and my bod is here to verify it today. ![]() ![]() Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! ya know you DO NOT have to do it all at once Marion!!!! ![]() silly girl...you best be careful.... ![]() |
Maid M., you could try floribunda. They are very hardy unlike the hybrid teas. |
Oh I am rather liking the tall bench I have now from the bricks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Jaye, have been thinking about trying some other roses than the Knockouts but the sun area is extremely limited and it is about full of plants now. Have a great, safe and fun weekend all. A very special Happy Mother's Day to all with 2 legged and 4 legged ![]() ![]() Going to bed as we have the ballet recital tomorrow and will need to be up and going early. Don't dare miss this or I am in deep, deep trouble. ![]() Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom |

Good Morning Ladies, Before I left for Carson City, Friday night I had noticed that another Iris was going to bloom. Well this is what I came home to. Meet Wintry Sky |
Beautiful Cindy. Irises are truly fuss free. Just feed them now and then. Here's Apple Blossom amaryllis. Some spent daffies foliage there, and beneath Apple Blossom, is a miniature white rose, planted when I first moved here. That rose has had its' top chopped off... accidentally weeded.. and it still keeps coming back. |
First blooms on Poker. Took this thing 3 years. Proud of my patience. ![]() |
feed them what? I've never fed my Iris' |
I have green leaves on my irises, does that count? ![]() I found a coral bell named "Havana" surfing last night. I gotta have it!!! Beautiful and red--the right spot of color for my bed. ![]() Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom |
I have very poor soil Cindy. So, I feed my plants every week. Irises do well without fertilizer, but having poor soil, I feed them in the spring and the fall to make sure they have the necessary nutrients. The question is to mulch or not to mulch. Some experts advised against mulching, and there's the other opinion. I've always mulched when first planted, then no more renewed mulching after that. Yes, green leaves count, Maid M. It means it's making food for the rhizomes. Give them another year! Never tried coral bells. They would look good in a fairy garden. |
How many years do I need to wait? They have been putting up green leaves for 3 years now. ![]() I only had a few of the coral bells but that changed over the weekend. Found a sale at Lowes and added some, then Kim brought some home from a nursery in Bainbridge yesterday. So far they are doing okay but time will tell. Mixing them with my hostas and hydrangeas. Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom |
