The cancer has reared its ugly head in prostate again. Made he decision to go on hormone therapy called lupron to block the testosterone which cancer cells feed on. Starting next week he will get a shot every 3 months, bad side effects is hot flashes. Thank all of you prayer warriors.
Hi Jaye, Darwin seems to be his same old lazy self. He has started the Lurpon therapy so that's a good thing. There is an RN whose main job is to keep tract of all cancer patients and watches their progress so we will be in contact with her during this time.
Name: Jaye or Sistah North Carolina, temporarily. Lord Jesus, He's all I need.
Pegi, this Lupron Therapy is also used for attacking ovarian, endrometral and breast cancer.
One of the side effects is hot flashes!! Now you and I have experienced that. Be ready for Darwin's mood swings!
Oh, Lordy!!!! Man with hot flashes. I know that is going to be bad. He will be wanting to live in a refrigerator. Prayrs, dear Pegi.. and hugs
Nuzzles from Charley too.
So far DH hasn't complained about hot flashes, but I know they are coming. We won't know how the Lupron is working until the next PSA test which will be done sometime this month. Thanks all for the prayers.

Awww... Darwin didn't get to experience our 'hot flashes'?? What a disappointment. I was getting a visual from what Charleen said. Darwin in his drawers standing in front of an open fridge for a long. long time!!
Maybe when he gets the second shot he will start having hot flashes. Not a fun thing to go through! And, don't leave the refrigerator door open, how many times do I have to say that!!! I still get them once in a while, at my age that shouldn't be allowed.
I asked Darwin if he had any hot flashes yet and he said no. Maybe he will be lucky. He isn't feeling all that good, but let me tell you he just can stop joking no matter what. Saw the surgeon today about his gall bladder. He is a little worried because he has had many surgeries, but will let the Internist go over his file then decide how to proceed. So we sit and wait on that too. I'm much more concerned about the prostate cancer right now. Thanks for all the hugs and prayers.
It was Norm's sense of humor that got us through. I sometimes think I was more upset and scared than he was. His attitude the whole time (2 years of treatment) was "It is what it is!!" and that he would do his best to follow the doctors treatment plan. Now he has been clean and cancer free for almost two years. The humor has played a big part in his recovery.
Oh yes, humor does wonders for the soul. Sometimes his humor goes a little too far, especially when something serious is being discussed. A number of years ago a shuttle bus was taking many cancer patients up to Los Angeles for their various treatments and DH said everyone was laughing and so friendly. He told the doctors that was the best therapy for every one. He rode that bus for 42 days and not one time did he hear a compliant.
I know so well what he means Pegi and it is so true. Reading your posts all I could think of was Nat King Cole and the song "Smile". Not only does smiling get us through but it makes everyone else wonder what we are thinking about!!!!
