It would sure break mine too Thunder. But the good side of it is that she isn't going to forget who you are. That was the problem with my two girls in Colorado. They never saw family back here so we really didn't exist for them. We would go to CO and would have to start all over again with them. They are older now and understand but it was so hard there for a while. It broke my heart to know they thought of us as strangers. Just keep a smile on your face for her..That will make her day. |

It sure takes a lot to keep it going long distance, but most definitely worth it.Hard with mine in TN when they were little too. It does make a difference when you can have a week or so with them kind of imprints you on their memory. |

Well we are very blessed to be able to see each other every few months!!! they come here, then we go there. The thing is, just how do you explain to a child so young??? Daddy is at work, and can not come home??? for 12 - 14 months???!!!! She still calls for him when she wakes up from her nap ![]() Barb, she has a picture of Her Daddy, and Pepe, and Me...that she carries around with her.....and she asks for "up up" many times a day and wants to look at the photos on the walls tells Momma who every one is !!! My youngest son says "beans" a lot....uses it for any thing and everything...instead of the sh** word...what ever, kind of like some of us used the word "cool" back when........anyways he says beans......so now when she looks at his photo....she says "beans" Momma tells her "no that's uncle Waylon" she gives her Momma a dirty look...and says "NO.... BEANS!!!" Makes me giggle every time I think of it ![]() Susan I have a Question for you...what kind of paper did you get to do the photo things.... transfers ? I want to take a photo of my son and enlarge it, and make a "doll" for my grand daughter...I figure I will do it two sheets tall....there are 5 or 6 different kinds at wally world??? wonder if one kind is better than another??? Help!!!! |
|

I got photo transfer paper at JoAnns |
|
|||
yes but what kind??? they have many??? |
|

Uncle Waylon must just be contented to be renamed "Beans"! |

Thunder - it depends if you're doing it on light or dark fabric. I use Avery transfers for both. For light fabric you choose that package and choose "transfer paper" on your printer properties. This reverses the picture and when you put it upside down on the fabric it then becomes right-side. You leave some of the white "paper" around the edges and it becomes translucent (not totally invisible though). ![]() For dark fabric choose the appropriate package, and you don't want it to be reversed on your printer settings because you put it right-side up and the back of it sticks to the fabric. You trim exactly around the picture, cleanly, and you only see the picture. The paper is not translucent which is why you need to trim properly. ![]() Test printing the picture on regular paper first - so you get the size right and not waste the transfer paper. The sheets come 8.5x11 and if you want, you can "poster print" to make it larger - this option in your print properties can go from 2x2 to 9x9 sheets (really huge!). ![]() |

I am cutting fabric for my sons quilt...the reverse side ...of the reverse side..... to bring you up to date / refresh memory...... I started a log cabin ages ago, got the blocks all done and put together...could not decide on a back side. finally started working on it and decided I liked it way too much to use it for the backside, and would instead use it as another top...........sew then I had to figure out a reverse side again x 2 well I figured out one, or so I thought, went looking for fabrics, found some great batik, perfect colors!!! could only get fat 1/4's ok new plan..... well I found some more fat 1/4's in batiks.........sat on them awhile trying to figure out what to do.............. I finally have had that "light bulb" go flash!!! and I know what I want to do ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thunder , if you use butcher paper and iron your fabric to it you can run the fabric through the printer & print right to the fabric ![]() check out my new store Metamorphosis Upcycled/Recycled Glass http://www.facebook.com/MetamorphosisUpcycledRectcledGlass?v... , http://cubits.org/diycomfortheserious/thread/view/35215/#new... |

I am - I'm using the crutches, but don't like 'em! Such a "pain" to learn how to use 'em!! The pain killers make me woozy, so I didn't use them before I got to work - waited until afterwards. I stay at my desk alot, and others are helping me with stuff, so I'm ok. ![]() |

By butcher paper, you mean Freezer paper right? Which side of the paper will be on top of the fabric? I'm new to all this, but I have plenty of freezer paper to experiment with. Thanks Cheryl. Thunder!! WOWSER!!! Your son will absolutely love it!! If not, you know my addy!! Love log cabins! |

Yes Freezer paper Jaye Iron the fabric to the slick side . it stiffend the fabric enough to run it through the printer . Put it in the printer fabric side up, so you print right to the fabric . Then remove the paper and heat set the ink by ironing the fabric again. check out my new store Metamorphosis Upcycled/Recycled Glass http://www.facebook.com/MetamorphosisUpcycledRectcledGlass?v... , http://cubits.org/diycomfortheserious/thread/view/35215/#new... |

![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you so much Cheryl!!! That's easy to comprehend!! I'll try it as soon as I get some ink for my printer ![]() |

How To Print On Fabric Using Freezer Paper ~ please read all instructions before you begin ~ 1. Cut a piece of fabric so it’s the same size as a piece of paper. – 8.5†x 11†2. Cut a piece of freezer paper the same size. – 8.5†x 11†3. With a heated iron (medium to high heat) press the fabric to the shiny side of the freezer paper. – I find that the fabric adheres better if ironing on a flat hard surface rather than a padded ironing board. I use a thin flat towel to cover my countertop and use that as my ironing surface, but use caution as you could scorch your countertop. 4. Once the fabric is adhered to the freezer paper, check for stray threads and trim away any excess fabric that isn’t bonded to the freezer paper along the edges. 5. Place the fabric sheet in the paper tray of your printer, it’s best to have some other paper below the fabric sheet – it just helps the fabric sheet to feed thru better. 6. Now print your image. You’ll probably have to play with the settings on your printer to achieve the quality you’re after. Once you figure out what works best, I suggest that you write it down so you’ll know for next time. A Note About Ink: Some inks for inkjet printers are not colorfast so you’ll need to test that out, you don’t want your project ruined if it should get wet. A Note About Freezer Paper: Freezer paper is found in most grocery stores in the same aisle as foil, plastic wrap, etc. Make sure it says FREEZER paper. Do not use wax paper, it’s not the same thing and wax paper won’t work. The Fine Print: I have never had any problems using this method of printing. However, I will NOT be responsible for any damages that may occur to your printer by using this method of printing. If you follow these directions you are printing at your own risk. check out my new store Metamorphosis Upcycled/Recycled Glass http://www.facebook.com/MetamorphosisUpcycledRectcledGlass?v... , http://cubits.org/diycomfortheserious/thread/view/35215/#new... |
