She does want to be surprised but I wasn't sure if she would be able to show a picture. Her top is so pretty I would think she would want all to see it. I'll not post any picture of it until I hear from her. Could you please send her an email and let her know it is ready for her? Thanks, Barb
Well, here I am almost 17 months since the last post here....What have you all been doing?????
Today has been a wonderful trip down memory lane for me. We need to make room here in this tiny apartment for the few things left in the storage unit we rented. Since I don't have the stamina I once had to quilt all the time, I have decided to downsize the sewing room.
When we moved down here I brought what I thought was everything out of that room but some things I've looked for, I haven't found. What I DID find was sooooooo many blocks we made with our block swaps. What fun it was to go through all of them again. And then there was the 2.5" strip swap and then the 5" square swap. And I could go on and on.
There is no way I will be able to use up all these blocks. So I am thinking of donating them. Would any of you be upset if I did that? You all worked so hard on them and I wouldn't want you to think they were not special to me. Please let me know your thoughts okay???
Thanks, for the memories!!!!
Thanks Karen. I already used over 40 of them for placemats for the senior center where we used to live. I could start again for the one here but there are over 600 who receive meals each day!!!! I think it will be better for me to donate them as I need to make room,
HI Karen. And yes, I shouted!!! Maybe someone else will hear!!!
I have just finished four placemats (still need binding) and I'm about one third done on the body of the sweater I'm knitting for me.
I have put together the top of the Delightful Stars quilt-a-long but haven't decided yet about borders.
I love your latest tree skirt. Maybe a picture here would interest a few to check in!!!

Hi Barb and Karen. I have´t done much quilting during the summer months, but now I am continuing to hand quilt a large bed quilt. I am leaving for my country cabin and taking it with me to be able to work on it in the evenings while I am there. I will be back home Sunday night. I think I will leave the quilt there so I can quilt a little bit when I am there.
Yes, Please upload pictures of your work Barb you make such beautiful things :hurray
Karen, are you sewing something now: If so it would be so nice to see it
Oh Magga - that quilt is stunning!!!! and to think you are hand quilting it makes it truly an hierloom. Just beautiful.
I will try for a photo of the quilt top I just finished. It was a quilt-a-long project started last January that is just finishing up now.
This is a centerpiece I just finished. And parts of the quilt before they all went together.
Barb I love yours, how big will it be? Looks huge.
Magga, I'm making Christmas tree skirts for all my 15 grandchildren. My youngest son had a bad flood in his home and one of the things lost was the tree skirt I made many years ago. I'll let him pick from the ones I have done, and think I'll make the rest of my kids new ones also as theirs are pretty old. Six of the grands have married or set up housekeeping so they have their tree skirts. I have six more finished and just put away. Some of the grands are pre teens or young teens so I should have plenty of time for them.
Right now it is 62 X 75 without any borders. I am adding a 2" border all around of the background fabric and then it calls for one made up totally of four patches made from the same materials in the quilt. I think that is too busy considering how busy is the quilt itself. So I'm thinking a 5" solid border to pull it all in together but I am undecided as to color. The only thing I bought for this quilt is the background material - all the rest is from my stash. I must give this some thought....
Beautiful designs Barb, I'd have thought it was king size, it just seems so big to me. I agree about the border using a solid. Do you have enough of any one of the colors? or maybe two narrower of two colors?
The pattern also called for another background border and then one made triangles. The finished size was something like 90 X 108!!! King size. Anyway I think I have decided to use either a blue or a green border in a tone-on-tone. Has to wait for a bit as Vacation starts Now!!! Going to Maine for a while.....Both Norm and I are ready...LOL
