Think we should have a new room for each month.

Welcome back Dorothy!

Love those Dresden plates and again thank you Karen for starting the swap.
One way to dive into something I've always wanted to do, but don't have the confidence!

Calling Audrey!! Has anyone seen Audrey. Wondering how she's doing.

It rained again today. Kel managed to cut some grass. At least one area that no snakes can hide.
So, stayed indoors, sew, rip and cook!
Yep, like Thunder here, I have too many projects going on at one time. But what is life without stress?

Cooked some multi grains today, that my sister had sent. Some lentils, beans and wild rice, absolutely delicious when cooked in chicken stock with some Kielbasa sausages.

Kel's asked to relieve a day time CO tomorrow. It will be good if he'd be transferred permanently. But it's less money for the day shift.

Cross your fingers for us. People who had their agent video our place are now coming from Chicago to see it for them selves. Their agent liked it lets hope they do too.

Sending prayers they really like your place, and give you a nice offer!

Dorothy, so glad to hear your home, and on the mend! Don't over do it!

Audrey has been posting on other threads, she has breathing problems, and a carbuncle on her leg. Guess it is pretty painful. She is on Antibiotic's.

Susan, good luck on your interview!

Kathy Kiz, I like that 'mealy bug' stitch. That's much more interesting looking than plain ole zig zag on an applique! I have some butterflies I can practise on.

Here's what I've been doing.. since it's been raining non stop!!
Meandering stitches down the seam lines. Kinda mindless work, but that's what I need to destress!
I love using variegated thread when the quilt is scrappy looking. Thumb of 2012-06-02/Heavenscape/89e38a

Ooooooh, love that green swirly print! Happen to know where that came from? I still can't 'meander' worth a darn.... but I did loosen the pressure on my machine, which helped some. Guess I'm going to have to start using stencils or stitch around a template until my brain starts understanding what my hands want it to do.

Kathy Kiz, I'm appreciating this machine has it has the ability to 'sense' the fabric thickness, and adjust stitch length and tension accordingly.
The meandering stitch is one that's built in. I need to learn how to stipple!!
Did tried "echo" quilting, but somehow they look like loud shouts as the gaps are not uniform!!

Fabric is Barb's btw. I know it's safe to post pic here as the intended recepient doesn't come here.

I really like your Dresden quilt shown in the other building. The rounded edges make the plates much more softer looking. How lond did it take you to finish that?

My poor old machine from the 70's is all metal, just keeps chuggin' along... I've upholstered a ski boat, numerous chairs/couches, along with my wedding dress, high school clothes, baby clothes, kid's clothes, curtains, etc, etc... never replaced or repaired a thing on it. The only thing that doesn't work well now is the bobbin winder (on top of the machine). The arm that lines up with the bobbin as it's winding is either bent or ?, as I need to hold it slightly outward/down for the winder to run. I have a separate bobbin winder from WM that fills in for me.
I prefer the rounded shape too, as it seems to soften the look, more like the old scalloped dessert plates. The points give it a more sharp appearance, works well with darker fabrics. Once I got the first one under control, the rest of them just fell into place. All the colors were stacked and lined up on the table in order, then I started chaining pieces together in 2s until I got 10 pairs for each plate. Once those were all in stacks, then put them together in order like the first one. My goal was one a day, but the first one took the longest. Then I decided to use a lightweight fusible around the edge to hold it in place, which wasn't really necessary, and that ate up alot of my time. Appliqueing on machine was easy, then the lattice work went quickly. Seems like it only took a couple weeks to get it all together, but I didn't work on it more than a couple hours a day.
I tried Thunder's wavy stitching on a baby quilt, ended up taking 3 rows out and went with SID/outline instead. That's sad when you can't even get a wavy line to look right!! Rolling on the floor laughing

I got a note from Jamie and want you all to see it too!! Love to all my Sistas

Jamie's Note.....
I'm okay as is Inky (in fact he's better than I). The meds make me really tired and I am still (probably always will be) on treatment. There's a great deal to take care of here daily and I have slowed down a lot from this.

Too, I am just not on line much since I gave my keyboard an orange juice bath (NOT RECOMMENDED!) and can hardly type on it.

I adore the quilt from you folks, it makes me happy everyday. You can copy this to all for me if you wish. I do not want to lose track but when I DO come on I am so far behind on the reading that I can't seem to catch up.

Kathy Kiz, it's not the kind of sewing machine one has, it's what you can do with it. You my dear are a very accomplished quilter, and I'm sure there are lots of new fangled, high end brand owners that wish they have your talent.
I wish my old Kenmore that's all metal head is still running. It had given me years of good sewing, until 13 years ago.
Jinny Beyer was my first teacher... sort of.. She's the queen of tessallations, medallion quilts and geometric patterns!
So happen that when I first took up quilting classes, back in Singapore, my Swedish quilting teacher insist that all the students bought JB's Log Cabin and Patchwork Pattern books. From the Log Cabin book, I learnt the QAYG method, and made my very first log cabin too.
Goodness.. also caused brain freeze having to use maths! No rotary cutter nor acrylic rulers in the early 80s. But did get help from my late dad's steel T ruler, and set squares for perfect marked lines!
She certainly love dark colors doesn't she?

Yes LK, JB's inspirations came from her stay in India, and her designs are truly uniquely hers.
And it's impossible to find any of her fabrics on sale.

Wow Thunder!! You don't monkey around when it comes to increasing Malena's stuffed friends!! They are both adorable.
You're giving me courage to try a NY beauty, as soon as I get the dresden plates over with!!

Not having one's own computer is horrible!! Mine is in the shop so I am having to use Kim's and I have lost several threads.

Duh!!! Jaye, what is a mealy bug stitch? :hearts:

Charleen, glad you posted about Jamie.

Love, love the monkeys Thunder. Hopefully I will get things I am behind in finished in the next couple of weeks with Kim in Europe. I plan to sew, sew, do yard work, sew, nap when I feel like it, sew, and maybe clean some. I so so wanted to go on this trip (price was wonderful) but alas with Mom so up and down, I didn't dare. Mom was in one rare mood yesterday when Kim called her...asked to have a Spaniard brought home for her!!! Hilarious! Hilarious!
