How are you doing today, Dorothy? Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. |

As long as I do things quietly I am ok...but anything that taxes my breathing or energy is out of bounds...I just hope that after seeing the 2 specialists in Lexington within the next few weeks they can do something that will make my life a bit more quality..I hate being so inactive....you would think making a quilt would not be so taxing but it seems to aggrevate things http://cubits.org http://cubits.org/gourds/ http://cubits.org/Diabetes/ http://cubits.org/DMEnterprises/store Tahlmorra lujhala mei wiccan (The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods) |

Bless your heart. You got to take it easy. Got a lot of folks love you Dorothy. |

Hopefully, we can keep you active here Dorothy I have not been doing any quilting either. I sure do enjoy having my sewing machine laid out with my things spread out. My son moved home temporarily and shut down my entire cookie operation. He's moving November 7th so then the sewing starts again. I'm not just interested in quilting. I like sewing period. Do you all know of any online tutorials? Some of the terms baffles me. I tried to find directions (with pictures LoL) but I have not had any luck with that. Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. |

whew... finally back home after all the shower excitement! Went to 2 showers back home in Indiana, visited family and friends, then topped the week off by going to Kristen's ultrasound this morning. Bella was pretty active, sucking her thumb and turning around. She's due in 5 weeks, but dr says she could be a little early.. So Kristen and Micah are pretty excited about that! Will take a day or two to catch up on all your chat here and across the street, kids kept me pretty busy, then didn't want me to go home. Had plenty of things they 'needed help with'...LOL Here's shower pics.... first one is my niece Nichole and the quilt I made for her, then Kristen's shower. Didn't get Bella's quilt finished, but it should be done before she's born. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

a few more... we used her fountain from their wedding for strawberry lemonade, adding a frozen ring of raspberry lemonade with fresh strawberries.... the added raspberry flavor made a big difference, and the little kids liked fishing the berries out of the fountain...lol Micah ordered the cake from a local bakery (which in years past made awesome cakes and cookies), but we weren't too impressed with it. Was supposed to be a marble cake, but the only marbling was on the bottom and not much chocolate flavor. Sugar cookies were almost 1/2" thick, but had good flavor. We should have made ourselves, but just didn't have time to do it all. The doll cradle was given to her by her sister, and we made a doll size sample quilt for the autograph quilt that will be made for Bella's birthday. I furnished each table with 5" charm squares and fabric markers for each guest to autograph and design, so by her 1st birthday the quilt will have relatives and friends wishing her a Happy Birthday. Funny thing was, not one person attending had ever heard of an autograph or memory quilt..... all new idea to them, so they had fun making lots of squares. Think we had almost 50 squares decorated, with only 22 guests. She cut out more to send to family that couldn't attend and her co-workers, she's having more fun with this than I am..! ![]() ![]() |

Kathy it sounds like you had a wonderful visit and even a few laughs at all the acticity, new and old. I wish my family was more in tune with each other...and we could have memories like this....but, alas, it has never been that way...with all the relatives there are I only have contact with one...the rest are too busy living their private lives or have "forgotten" that there are more of us out here...I don't even know where they all live anymore.=, or how many are still alive....sad I know...but I enjoy hearing all about the family get togethers here...it makes my day and puts a smile on my wrinkled face... http://cubits.org http://cubits.org/gourds/ http://cubits.org/Diabetes/ http://cubits.org/DMEnterprises/store Tahlmorra lujhala mei wiccan (The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods) |

As long as your mind is active Dorothy and you are willing to share your knowledge, you will NEVER be useless. That is one of the wonders of this internet we belong to. You like to write so now is the the chance to do so - write about anything - your feelings, tell us about your day, tell us what you are reading. Tell us about what you had for breakfast. It will keep your mind busy until your body can keep up and we will be able to follow right along with you. We miss the little stories you used to tell - maybe we could have some more of those? I remember one about you and Marti exploring in the dessert. But no matter what you do - you are NEVER useless to us........ ![]() |

morning everyone! The downside of visiting the kids is trying to catch up when I come home. Although Hubby kept the house straightened up AND the dishes washed (!), there's plenty to finish that I left in a heap last weekend.. plus we are in our Indian Summer, I suppose, so that means this week at 70º+ will have to get the last mowing and the flowerbeds cleaned up! My flowers are all in bloom, so we'll enjoy them until frost, something we didn't get to do over the summer heat. Thunder, yes, her name is Annabella Faye. Middle name is from Kristen's mother who passed after their wedding from colon cancer. Kristen has a few of her mother's nightgowns that she is going to cut a few pieces to incorporate into Bella's quilt, a big milestone for her as she misses her mother terribly. Micah and his brother had fun designing some of the squares after the shower. Took them awhile to decide what to put on it, but after some discussion, they found all sorts of things to write and draw on them..LOL Sorry to hear of all the health problems in this group! Dorothy, Barb has a great point! Since you're resting, it would be a good time to reflect and blog on your life's adventures! We love to read about other people's wanderings and it's something you've wanted to do. Plus, it's real people, real life! Not some story made up by an unknown published in some mag.. Anita, there are tons of sewing tutes on youtube and the web. Nancy Ziemann has a show on PBS or your local channel possibly. She has been around for ages, and is a wonderful presenter of many projects. Her A-Z program has been run here quite a few times, very informative. Here's her website: http://www.wpt.org/sewingwithnancy/sewing.cfm If you're looking for something simple, try going thru the pattern catalogs at Joanns or even WM. You could make Cam a simple vest for this fall/winter, then head to the craft dept for gems or stones to decorate.. Or make matching vests for you and her! If you're looking for something specific, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with. I may even have an old sewing instruction manual upstairs.. Waving HI to everyone that I haven't addressed here, still trying to catch up on all the news and chatter. AND jealous of the Frankenmuth trip that some of you got to attend - one of these days maybe I'll get to one of these reunions! Back later, housework is calling! ![]() |
Kathy, I sure wish you had been in Frankenmuth. It was my first time and I can't wait for another. I'm in TN again...big surprise huh? I had planned on heading home by now but will stay a few more days to help DGD with packing. Finally she is getting to move into a decent place for her and the kids. Granted it's public housing but I have been in it and it's very nice, They maintain very strict standards and it seems to pay off. YAY!!! No more mold, vermin, cats underneath sending fleas up, no more bouncy floors, and best of all the baby will be so much healthier without all these alergins. Poor guy has been so sick with allergies. Ex had provided them with two homes and both were hell holes. So out with him. and all the attending problems. Court even had to order him to get decent housing before he could have the kids over night. He was staying in a small camper at his mothers. Kids weren't allowed in her house because she refused to not smoke around them and has cats and ferrets. Ex makes decent money too. On with the move. |
I found some of the group pics last night.... looked like so much fun! Glad your DGD got to a better apt! Little ones don't need to be exposed to all that, some of those aftereffects can take hold for a long time! Some people just don't get too excited about where they live, and how they effect other people at the same time.. We had a certain percentage of the apt. complex designated for govt housing, where I lived in IN. Since I worked for maintenance group, I helped clean the apts before they were moved into again. We always repainted, and scrubbed the place down before anyone set foot in it. Most renters left in decent shape, others made you wonder if they were born under a rock.... LOL |
Dorothy, hope this finds you feeling better. I agree with the others about the stories. Kathy, good to see you back and sounds like you had a wonderful trip!!! Not many of our family left and no one seems to really be interested in getting together or staying in touch. That is why my niece in Canada is so special to me. She is actually my half brothers daughter but closer to me than my own family. In fact, she is my bright light!! Had a follow up visit with the doctor following my trip to the hospital. All test came back normal! ![]() ![]() ![]() I am nursing Kim, daughter, today as she had a root canal yesterday. The x-ray didn't show it to be as bad as they found once the endodontist got into the tooth. The tooth had cracked internally to the gum line and was infected. She is not a happy camper today!! Thank goodness for pain meds. Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom |

Yes, thank goodness for pain meds. I gather she has time off from teaching now? |
