Ah it is the new year isn't it! Lovey dubby Jamie, it is really good to see you and Inky back with us and do hope your health continues to improve. Smiling

The holiday break was a sick one at this house as Kim came down with the "bug" the second day off from work. Finally made it down to see my mom for a few days. Not a really good visit but that is to be understood now. She was very lethargic, grumpy and tired. Oh did I mention GRUMPY? There were times I felt like she was deliberately arguing with us but then no, just the way things are going now. Returned home last Thursday evening and have been running trying to get things done before Kim goes back to work tomorrow.

Knee still isn't doing well but then 3 torn ligaments I guess will slow a person down. Weather is nasty and is suppose to continue so for a few days. Sew it will be sewing time for me.

Welcome back BIG SISTAH!

I'm sure you forgave your mum for being grumpy. At her age, she's entitled to that!! Maybe she doesn't like to see you go, that's why she acts out that way?
I know when my ex was ready to go overseas, I deliberately picked a fight!
Take it easy Marion. Be gentle with that knee. Use the hand rails!! Let Kim help you out with laundry!

Don't know what is happening with the start of the new year and the help we are getting for the expensive meds. DH is taking. Went to pick them up last Friday and they wanted $2,000 co pay. Good thing my heart is good. Well went to see the oncologist's nurse and then a social worker who said not to worry she is working on it. We were getting help from medicare for DH's meds, but we make $200 too much a year to get any help. Calling the social worker beginning of week and see what she has found out. One door shut and hope a new one is open.

Waiting for rain, but got none. My plants seem to like the cool weather, getting buds on brugs never got buds on before. Of course, rain water is sure helping.

Take care Marion, takes a long time for tendons to heal. Hope you are using a cane to help you get around. Group hug

Sure hope you get the help you need Pegi! I heard on the news yesterday, that due to the cost of Obama care, that most health insurance companies are raising rate to about 25%! Don't know how anyone can afford insurance anymore!

Pegi, I am still stunned with the cost of your husband's meds. We had no bill or cost like that associated with those Ross took and he had Medicare. Of course his supplement through the company he worked for before his retirement was a very good policy. That might make the difference. Here is so hoping you get this resolved soon. I know the stress level you are dealing with now. Group hug Group hug

Jaye, mom was mostly grumpy with my sister. She would not very talkative when I was there. Sadly her memory is going now and at times she couldn't remember who Kim was, much less her name. Thankfully I have a daughter who is intelligent enough to understand. Most of her issues are directed at my sister.

Take as good of care as I can with the knee....some days better than others.

Pegi my drug is over $5000. a month. It costs me nothing because my oncologist arranged a grant for me. Yours should be able to do the same. They know how to go through channels.

It is amazing what drugs and medical care cost. I am not Medicare age yet and I sure am glad that I bought some decent insurance a few years ago before I got sick (I went without for several years since I 'retired'). Still, the insurance is costly and has a high DD (which just started over on the calendar year). EGAD! Karen has a good idea Peggy. It just seems ridiculous that medical care is so unaffordable for some.

medication cost is totally ridiculous Grumbling Grumbling and that is all I will say on that one....

Peggi, please ask the Dr to look into it for you, before I had insurance I could get my inhalers for nothing !!! now I have insurance, I have to pay $120.00 for one of them, and the other one is $65.00 Angry and I have to pay for the insurance too!!! sometimes I think I was better off without it??? definitely costs more per month....

My ins changed drastically at the first of the year. Already have had to cancel 2 appointments, as Drs are no longer covered....I am almost afraid to bring the new prescription I just got to the pharmacy Blinking

Thank goodness hubs has great ins. and he pays nothing, or very little for any of his meds.

Praying for Dorothy she has traveled a rough road lately.

Well, we got approved for another $6000 which means only 3 months more, but glad of that. Seeing the oncologist on Friday and see what he says. They have social workers to help out and the one I talked to was really working on it for us. Even if he gave us another drug to take I'm sure that will be expensive too. We can't even afford the supplement insurance to go with medicare. I found out that with the new year a lot has gone up. An MRI will cost us $170 as will a Cat scan. Also a day in the hospital will cost $170. That is $45 more a month this year. Karen, you have a great doctor arranging a grant for you. I don't know if this fund is running low on money or what. I know one fund I called said they ran out of funding. We had extra help with drugs from medicare, but now they tell us that we make $200 more a year so we don't qualify any more. The Lupron shot he gets from the urologist is free also the infusions he gets once a month for his bones. His bones are always aching so he turns up the heater and then I'm complaining of the heat. Not a win win situation. It sure is rough trying to balance a budget any more. Group hug

Pegi, when my friend was going through her chemo, she said her bones hurt all the time, one of the Dr.'s told her to take a claritin tablet once a day, and it helped her a lot!
Also, you can call the american cancer society, there are lots of programs out there that will help!

This is what Mary posted on Facebook...

My sister went into the hospital yesterday in serious condition. The Dr did not hold out much hope as he said that she was in renal failure along with her breathing problems and her liver disease. When I left her there at 4:30 pm they were giving her blood transfusion and setting up for breathing treatments. Please keep her in your prayers.
