Hoping you can feel all these prayers Thunder. I send mine along as well. |

good morning!!! Here's what I'm working on. Here's the top, at the moment, and here's the last border I want to add. The border with the black, I will put at the bottom of it, and the straight lacy-look will go on the bottom row and perhaps the top row?! Let me know your thoughts.... |
forgot to add the pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Susan, you have done a wonderful job with that star. I have always wanted to do one in blues and white, but an to scared of those angles. |
I still have the template I made this from. I made the template by stacking several layers of plastic grid. I'm sure, if I made the star now, that I would line the points up better than I did when I was 20 ![]() btw - I didn't have a pattern - I saw the picture on the front of a magazine and Had To Make It!! I'm following that same concept for when I make my Madam Butterfly quilt.......... ![]() |
I have one more small project and then will be packing up my sewing room. If I promised you a pattern or anything please let me know now as I don't know how long it will be until I'm back into this stuff. I will have some special circumstances in our new home that will keep me from having a sewing place for an unknown time. I will however be in here, most likely on a daily basis keeping up with all of you. |
Karen - just don't overdo the packing, etc...... don't want you wearing yourself out! ![]() |

Susan that's beautiful. What a brave undertaking! Trying to follow you here :"The border with the black, I will put at the bottom of it, and the straight lacy-look will go on the bottom row and perhaps the top row?! Let me know your thoughts.... " If you're happy with the lace, then do it, but all around not just for the top and bottom. Then add the black last? So the lace will look like inserts? My opinion. How about the corners? And..IMO, I'd just do a solid colored scallop border to soften the 'points' as it won't compete with the magnificent center piece. Karen, don't push too hard to unpack. I'm glad you didn't join the birdhouse quilt block.. you'd be running ragged trying to fulfill the commitment! This is gonna be your last address, so take your time sistah. Pegi.. check in please sistah. Hope Darwin's not keeping you away from the pc. |
Not going with the black lace, Jaye - did muslin. I'll post later. Now, gotta run - have an app't at one, and need to get to bus for Noon...... not gonna park downtown! |
We're just packing the boxes. Actually I wouldn't mind if they packed the boxes too, except for my sewing room of course. Having a company move us, do the loading and unloading. We have almost all of March to get it done so no pressure. |
Karen that is the way to move... hire someone else to do it for you. Glad you can pace yourself with the move. A hurried move always ends up with someone hurt or someone going insane LOL did a 2.5 hr work out today whew i m tired. but feel good. ate a huge salad when i got home and a yogurt. dnner was chcken Susan that is a wonderful quilt ! love the lace. gves it a antique look Life without garlic , just plain stinks ! |

yeah well, the lace is not going on THIS quilt. Rest assured, I will put it on A quilt though ![]() Hey wanna hear of my "deal" shopping? We went to the grocery store for Bob's coffee cream and bus pass, and were window shopping in the meat dept. They had Pork Loin Rib Half, for $4.39 Kg (there are 2.2 lbs per Kg). One of them didn't have a "per kg" price, but the $4.39 was in the "total price" part of the label........ We took it to Customer Service, and the manager said that we could have it for that price!! Not only That, but the scan showed $4.17 total!! So, we got it for 1/3 the price!! It Should have been $13.65....... ![]() |
Susan, that is a great deal on the ribs. Nice going. |

Love it, Sue!! How appropriate that the little leprechaun is in the angel's arms (St. Patrick IS the patron saint of Ireland, of course!) Look what I found, when looking up Magnesium.......... http://www.calmnatural.co.uk/magnesium-deficiency Inability to Sleep Insomnia or inability to sleep is another symptom of magnesium deficiency. If you find it difficult to sleep or find yourself waking up in the night with muscle spasms, cramps and stuffiness, you may benefit from magnesium supplementation. In a study of more than 200 patients, Dr W.H Davis of the University of Pretoria tested magnesium as a possible means of combating insomnia. 99 percent of the patients on magnesium supplementation reported that sleep was induced rapidly and was uninterrupted. Waking tiredness disappeared, and anxiety and tension diminished during the day. No ill effects were noted on the patients participating in this 12-month long study in which before retiring they daily took eight tablets of 250 mgs each of magnesium chloride (W.H. Davis and F. Ziady, “The Role of Magnesium in Sleepâ€, Montreal Symposium, 1976) In the elderly, magnesium supplements were found to improve sleep by decreasing the release of cortisol, the stress hormone that causes sleep disruption. Weakening of the Bones For long calcium was considered the key mineral in the prevention of Osteoporosis, but new research has proven that magnesium supplementation is equally important in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Magnesium comprises about 1 percent of the human bone mineral. It influences both bone matrix and bone mineral metabolism and helps our body assimilate calcium. Says Dr Barnett, an orthopaedic surgeon who has published the effects of different soil and water mineral composition levels in two US Counties on bone health: “Magnesium is perhaps, the most important single element-in bone health.†Magnesium deficiency may also be a risk factor for postmenopausal osteoporosis, as it alters calcium metabolism and affects the hormone that regulates calcium balance in the body. As the magnesium content of bone mineral decreases, bone crystals become larger and more brittle. In their study ‘Magnesium supplementation and osteoporosis’, researchers Sojka JE, Weaver CM (published in Nutrition Reviews, 1995.) found lower magnesium content and larger bone crystals in osteoporotic women and suggest that magnesium supplementation may improve bone mineral density. Yikes - that's a lot of magnesium......... but if needed...... ![]() |

Thanks Susan, that reminds me to continue with my magnesium supplements. Taking calcium will help one's body absorb magnesium better I'm told. Just bought some Vitamin D3 2000mg. Hoping that will improve bone density. Sue, may there be days of rainbow overlooking Jessica's Garden. ![]() Sorting out fabrics today. GOT to revive my quilting mojo. Have this great idea for a child's quilt.. think I can finish this before the child is here! ![]() |

Just chatted with someone on my "Get Fit" thread, and she says taking magnesium helped get rid of her migraines....... She takes more than the recommended - 1000mg, instead of 400mg. She used to have MASSIVE migraines every day to the point where she was physically sick. Best to take magnesium through fish, dark green veggies, and nuts........ (wheat germ is good). ![]() |
