kids are adorable Karen! JoJo is really chawin' on the jerky, looks like..LOL
Thanks Magga, I've already lectured the kids on making sure Bella has the opportunity to learn everything that they can do, especially Daddy's love for woodworking and building things. A girl needs to know how to swing a hammer and mow the yard!

Awwww Magga You're another animal lover!
This room is full of sistahs with BIG hearts for furbabies.
Lola's surgery is moved up. From the 18th to Thursday the 14th. Vet recommends an overnight stay too. We have both managed to be calm around Lola, and Barb, yes, she's getting more attention than usual from Kel especially.
We will let the vet know to order Chinese take out for Lola when she comes out surgery and that she drinks 1 part coffee to 9 parts skim milk
We will also pack her favorite teddy in her overnight valise.
Yes Kathy Kiz!!!! Big points for you there! No more conventional hobbies for a girl! A girl needs to learn how to operate a jack hammer too!!
Can Bumpa share his recipe? You must have some Swedish ancestry Karen, as your grandaughters look Nordics with those blue eyes and light hair!!
I have to say Jaye, I always thought brown eyes were dominant until I started getting grands. I'm dark, hubby is also but hazel eyes. All our kids save one were dark, one was blond but brown eyes. Three of them had blue eyed blonds. Go figure, it seems to be carrying on with the greats. Sweet Caroline has my olive coloring, but as you can see her brother is fair as can be. BTW her dad shaved JoJo's head but forbids mom to cut any part of SCarolines's hair. Even though what she has is just fine baby hair, and she can barely see through those bangs. I was so close to fixing that as I know he wouldn't dare say a word to me, but DGD would hear plenty.
Hubby makes his own seasoning mix for his jerky. Actually it's so good he keeps all the family supplied and they use it in much of their cooking.
Lola is in my thoughts, we are very attached to our fur babies also. Since I lost my Ginny, I cry every time I see a golden, and that was 6 years ago.

Quiet today.
Can't concentrate on what I've planned to do. At least I've cooked for the big carnivore!!
Meat in soy, ginger and garlic for him to bring to work with, and lots of honeyed carrots.

yummmmmmmmmm
Well, I cooked a slow-cooker meat for yesterday's dinner - Standing Rib Roast. They had them on 50% off.
Can't remember when (if ever) I've had one, likely cuz it is such an expensive cut of meat..........
It was my birthday dinner, so I didn't mind spoiling myself

Not the premium and expensive cuts Susan. And it all depends on what the local wants. For those cuts, we have to hit the big cities with population of more than 10,000.
Never buy sirloin, NY or rib eye steaks from around here. You'd get 3rd grade quality.
You're better off buying chuck roasts and cut them into steaks.
The local WM started selling briskets 3 years ago! Imagine that!!
We also lose products if it is not popular here. For instance, we used to use nothing but, I can't believe it's butter in the squeeze bottle. It is still made, just not sold here, because not enough people liked it.

Same here, I like to buy Reames Frozen Noodles because they taste more like homemade than the dried ones. I was getting some out of the store freezer one time when the manager walked by and said "Oh you're the one who buys those" No surprisingly, they disappeared soon after.

Small town inconvenience? Yup.. I sure miss living in big towns.
There's this brand of Jamaican meat pies that I love very much, and Karen, like you, I had the same remark from the store manager.
But fortunately, he loves it as well, so I'm lucky that he makes sure it's always available.
No Reames Frozen Noodles here. Now this county has a huge pork processing plant, and would you believe that we get very poor quality ribs..chops... etcetra.. ?
A beautiful day, and I'm gonna let Lola chase the cats outside!! Time for me to rake too!

I had a long conversation last night with my sister Alice, in Winnipeg, about my Mom........
After the fiasco last fall when they (3 sisters and 1 brother) took our Mom to a few Senior's Residences and my Mom was too frail to live there, and she's not ready for a Care Home, they've found what they call an Intermediate Personal Care Home - only one in Manitoba. http://www.thorcare.ca/
There are 65 rooms, so it's nice and cozy. The Administrator will hold a room for Mom, but they have to know by Monday. They haven't mentioned anything to Mom yet, because of the disappointment last fall, so (and here's the tricky part) they will have a meeting with the 4 siblings, and get the paperwork done, and if she's accepted, THEN they'll have one of them tell her. Not all at once, because she'd feel "ganged up on", and not sure which one would tell her. I SO wish I were there to talk to her too............
Anyway, we're keeping it among the siblings, and I've been asked not to even tell my daughter.
Once she's been accepted, then she would be able to move quite quickly - the bed sitting room would be having rent paid, so she may as well move in as soon as possible.
At first my brother (whom she lives with now) was saying it was mostly HIS decision, but my sister Ruth said "She's OUR mother, not just yours" and that shut him up! He was prepared not to like the place, but then he saw it on Monday and, according to the Administrator he's "totally turned around and is in favour of it". Especially when he heard they play Cribbage every day He said "where's her suitcase "
