I agree, Karen - go to a reputable computer store, and you can get a good refurbished one. |

Oh Pegi... so sorry you're having it Rough. ![]() Sometimes it's the other way around. Kel's mum had to have some tech support when she first had her pc, and after much misunderstanding, something like this was told to her by Hewlett Packard's tech support in India. "M'am, our conversation has been monitored by my supervisor who is an American, and it's very unfortunate that we both can't understand you. Is there anyone in your house that we could talk to?" MIL speaks with a very twangy Scarlet O'Hara accent!! Even I have a hard time understanding her. Needless to say. she passed the phone to Kel and he said he could hear the relief in the techie's voice! LK, I heard that there are many bugs in Windows 8 too. |

I got a call from sattelite radio to tell me i needed to pay my yearly fee. She spoke great english. I always compliment them on there english . So many times it is hard to understand a person accent, with my bad hearing it can make it harder. morning everyone oh boy gym today . ![]() Life without garlic , just plain stinks ! |
Morning Sue, enjoy you day at the gym. Update on Dad... Yesterday my Sister was informed that the toe they removed has a massive infection in it, so it looks like he may have to have the foot removed. Just lack of circulation is making things bad for him. Please say a prayer for him? |
So sorry to hear about your dad Linda. Hope he doeosn´t have to loose his foot. Sending prayers and warm thoughts to him. ![]() Magga |

So sorry about your dad LK. Hope they don't have to remove the foot, prayers coming your way. Susan, if I have to talk to someone at Verizon again I surely will ask for someone who can speak English that I can understand. Will be thinking about a new computer soon then. I need to take someone who knows a LOT more than I do about computers. Don't think DH will be happy to hear this. Living on a fixed income puts you in a bind at times like this. I've talked about a lap top, but thinking I might be better off staying with a desk top. Anyone with pros and cons on this? I sure appreciate all the feedback. Life is fragile, handle with prayer. |
We have a lap top also, and it is nice if you have a wireless router, so you can use it anywhere, but it need to be charged all the time. Laptops are cheaper. Maybe think about getting an ipad, or some type of nook? They are cheaper than a lap top. My sister got one from walmart.com completely re-furbished for about $200.00. |
Linda so sorry to hear of your dads foot. sure hope they can get the infection under control. i love my laptop. i can go into any room . had a good work out today. Life without garlic , just plain stinks ! |

I have a kindle fire, an Ipad would be great. I was doing a research project for google (being paid for it so why not) that they collected data on their cisco router on use of computer. If I don't want them to see where I go I can go on as a guest and they won't collect any data. Well, the router stopped working so I contacted them. I do have a Belkin router my sister bought me so I may hooked that back up. Just a short note about gardening. My neighbor came over and asked if I had some soda cans. She had a very large pot and she put the cans in the bottom, sort of layering, then the soil. Said the roots of the plants grow around the cans and also helps water flow. Said her dad did that, but I never heard of it. She said it is wonderful, so I'm going to have to use some of my aluminum cans for this. I thought of using regular cans, but maybe when they rust that wouldn't be good for the plants. I was using styrofoam pellets, but am going to give this a try. I have one very large terra cotta pot and I'm going to use them in this. Life is fragile, handle with prayer. |

One thing about the IPad , is that you can't play a lot of games on it, as it does not run java for the games. Glad to hear you had a good work out Sue. |
I do love the games, mostly the pogo games. Wish I wasn't so addicted to them. I think the IPad is out since it doesn't run java. I would love a lap top, but like my desk top too. Getting a little greedy here. I don't get any of my work done knowing it is always calling my name. I saw that Google has a lap top for $249, but don't know just how much ram, etc. it has. Will be thinking about it. I've been wanting a new moniter for a long time, maybe that will come to me this year. ![]() Life is fragile, handle with prayer. |

So sorry about the worry for your Dad, LindaKay........ I'll pray for him. Pegi - another thing you can do for plants in a large, large pot, is to put another pot (terracotta pot) upside down inside the larger pot, and that saves room as well. Just put a stone over top of the drainage hole. Hey - look what I just finished tonight - after only 2 days! Our friend and his wife had a baby in Sept, and I just got this top done........ they're moving in 2 weeks, so have to have it to them right away! ![]() I have the batting cut, and the backing is the red with stars, just like the border and some of the blocks. Jaye sent this material to me ![]() |
looks wonderful Susan ![]() ![]() |
ok - sew, need to cut batting & backing 2-3" bigger than the top, Then.... do I stitch the backing to the top on one side, and sandwich the batting in....... or what? Please walk me through it........... I'm going to hand quilt it. |
Put the layers together, pin it, and start in the middle, and work you way out to the edges. You can also use your machine, and stitch in the ditch between all the squares. |
You didn't mention binding Susan so I'm thinking maybe you want to do this the quick way. 1. Lay out your batting. Smooth as much as possible. 2. Lay backing on batting right side up. smooth out, 3. Lay top on backing right side down. 4. Pin smooth as much as possible, 5. Stitch around outside edge leaving a six inch space open for turning. 6. Trim excess batting and backing to match top. 7. Turn right side out and hand sew opening closed. 8. Quilt as desired. Hope this helps.... |

LK - I've done it that way in the past, just wanted to know how the Experts here do it, and both you and Barb stepped to the fore! As it's a small quilt, I'm going to try Barb's way (I've done it the other way for larger quilts, but I'm just not that good...... need perfecting of my skill - such as it is). I've done so few quilts, that I'm trying to get more comfortable with it and move forward to better ones....... Holy Moly...... want to use the quilt frame that Bob made me ![]() ![]() I know that tied quilts were done in the past, because it was quick and easy for the family bedding.... |

Just came home from my neighbour's for coffee. She gave me a scarf that she knitted in one evening. The "wool" comes on a ball, like regular wool, BUT instead of strands, it looks like a wide lace (very open-work and about 5" wide)) and she "picks up" every 2nd strand on the outside of the openwork. .After 6 stitches, missing every 2nd one, she does something else... and keeps going until it's finished. They are available in variegated or single colour. Mine is shades of white, grey, and black. Very nice! The skeins of wool are from $6 to $8 each. Available at WalMart apparently... |
