Yes, I had a great last day visit with Mom - she was so sweet as I left..... said to say "thank you" to Bob for letting me come - told her "there was no LET" lol
it was such a sweet "leave taking" Mom was great, and waved her hand goodbye as I left the room. I gave her several kisses on the forehead and cheek before I left.
I got home this afternoon.
Today...... not so happy news - she's still with us, but she, who has been bedridden and unable to get out of bed without help for over a week, got out when no one was looking.... she must have slid out, then walked the few steps and turned around to the visitors chair, and sat down. Then she slumped over. Her roommate must have been sleeping but when she woke, she saw Mom and used the call button. The aide got Mom back into bed, then gave her a lecture.
Mom is NOT to leave bed. She's far too weak. She'd only had 1/2 cup of tomato soup, and a few sips of tea that day..... far too weak, but yet she got herself out of bed.
If will alone could do it, she'd survive anything.........
I know she's determined, but that isn't enuff for an 80lb woman in her condition.....
Name: Audrey---Doe 41--- Warren South East Missouri I'm a Charlie's girl, too!
Susan, my grandmother slid between the rails on her bed and tried to get up. She also tried to tear off her clothes. She thought her clothes were keeping her from breathing good. I think it's just normal for people in that condition to do things like that. We're all praying for her, and for you, too!

sounds like my mom, trying to tear her clothes off cuz she felt trapped... that was on Christmas Day when they first admitted her.
Today she's being paneled to go into a Care Home, but the nurses don't think she'll make it that long, and the Dr says she tried to get out of bed because she was delirious. She wouldn't do this with her current strength.
Name: Jaye or Sistah North Carolina, temporarily. Lord Jesus, He's all I need.
Susan, I thank God that your mum's stay will be made comfortable and that she will always have round the clock watch.
My sistahs here who have kids are so blessed. At least you know that when your time is near, at least there'll be one that will look out for you.
I'm relying on Kel to do that for me. Maybe that's why I married one 11 years younger? Kidding!
My ex is 73, no kids and Kel had offered to take him in when living by himself gets hard.
He said that he could always go to the VA senior home in Alexandria, La. But we have an extra room just for him.
I know many would think it's weird that Kel's willing to take care of my ex. Guess I'm just blessed to have a good man.
Had long overdue dental work done yesterday and not looking forward to more appointments.
Jaye, I sure hope your mouth is feeling better today?
Susan, any update on your Mom?
No flight to Michigan. I still have a bit of the crud, but as time gets closer, the prices of tickets go up as well. When I first priced tickets, they were $325.00. They are now $928.00

Airfare is getting just plain crazy. They'll drive away the customers and then really find out what it's like to lose money. Only business people can afford to fly any more.

My mom's "up & down".
She hallucinates and forgets she has to stay in bed.....
One minute the nurses/Drs are saying "weeks, rather than months" and the next they're saying "she may go back to the semi-care home, so don't give up her room there - could live to 98".
Ladies..........she's 80 lbs, no IV or feeding tube, and is too tired to eat most of the time. I'm trying to be realistic here.
Had something nice happen on Friday - a "living/loving memory" plaque that holds about 100 mini plaques, went missing from the Church while I was away. Everyone looked high & low for it.
Friday night Bob & I went to put away all the Christmas decorations......... I peeked into the music equipment room, and there was the plaque, jammed inbetween the wall and a file cabinet, with only 2" or so showing...... someone deliberately jammed it in there...... don't know why?!?!
I used several different search engines for airfare prices. That was the cheapest one. I will just fly back home later in the spring when weather is warmer.

no, not kids, Audrey - they'd have to have a key to the church.
For my flight to Winnipeg (2 hours), it cost me (after taxes & fees) $507....... !
just got an email from my sister Alice, re: mom -
"Mom was very agitated yesterday evening sometime after 5 and had to be given a sedative. It is methotrineprazine. It is a strong psychotic sedative. You can look it up if you want, but that is what it is. She was trying to get out of bed and was just extremely agitated. They now have an alarm on her bed, so if she tries again the alarm goes off. She also had hydromorphone early in the a.m. for pain in her shoulders. I was up for a couple of hours and she would not wake up. Has been asleep all day. No breakfast or lunch. Nurse and I both tried to wake her but she was not receptive. Nurse read the chart to me and they are again going to assess her for palliative care. Joanne will be up sometime this week to do that. The chart also it says she will not be returning to the community. I asked if that that means T’s. and Renee said yes. I think we are crazy to keep T’s. Stan is in agreement. I asked if they were giving her drugs based on her size and Renee said they are for sure. She is not on oxygen and her breathing is deep and seems natural. Mouth open of course. Stan is going up today. I told him to maybe wait a couple of hours because she is in such a deep sleep. He is going to T’s first to pick up Boost. "

She won't be going back there - can't look after herself to the extent they need her to be able to at Thorvaldson's. It's a semi-care home, where they have a Dr & a nurse there M-F, business hours, and an aide the rest of the hours.
Not set up to look after bedridden people, and she is that.
The hospital is considering having her sit up for her breakfast, which means sitting in a chair.... it's been so long since she properly sat in a chair, I'm sure her limbs have atrophied.......
Anyway, it will happen when it happens........ the Lord will be with her along the way
