Good morning.

Another hot day coming, followed by a whole string of others just like it. Perfect weather for all the farmers making hay. Yesterday we picked up 6 heaping pickup loads of broken bales from the neighbor's fields. His baler is old, needs constant attention to keep things working right, so he gets an occasional bale that doesn't get tied. They each have 2 wires, and if only one is tied, the bale falls apart when it hits the ground. It's time consuming to pick them up, time is something the neighbor finds in short supply, so he gives them to us.

I have roses, lilies, daylilies, and several other things in bloom, as well as the yellow and white honeysuckle on the back gate arbor. We use the back entrance 99% of the time, so it's a good place for a sweet smelling plant.

Time to move the sprinklers, water the vegie garden, shower and get myself to the co-op for a few hours. Later I plan to have either a scone or strawberry shortcake at our Miner's Jubilee at the city park.

Maria, I have never seen yellow and white petunias! Yours are very healthy. something is eating the leaves on my zinneas, leaving a lacy skeleton. Possibly it is small grasshoppers, they have hatched and I see teeny tiny ones and up to 1/2 inch long hopping everywhere. County insect patrol has already identified hot spots to spray and try to control them. After last year's infestation, we will probably have a lot again this year. It goes in cycles, from bad to worse. Sigh.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
