Sea Drill to begin trading on the NYSE on Thursday, may it do well!

Well, 21 visitors.

Today I see the news that

Frontier Communications Raised To Strong Buy From Outperform By Raymond James >FTR

Who is Raymond James? Closing price was $7.43, and opening this morning, 7.54. Hum. Isn't that cute. Up to 7.68 now at 2pm. I see the price this morning touched 7.65 just after ten am, and dropped to 7.55. Some overnight profits? . Ten cents isn't much until you multiply it by 50,000. Most of the bid/ask's are in the tens of thousands of shares. I wouldn't mind a deal like that three or four times a week. Or more. But I am just a little guy, not one of the Big Sharks.

But even so, I'm doing pretty well, overall my portfolio is up 20% today. Not todays' increase. But from what I started with. Sea Drill and others are getting smashed, so for today I'm in the red a bit for the day.

There was an article about how some analysts are concerned that trading is in huge quantities like this. Little people like me with 1,000 shares don't seem to be trading, or we have left the Market entirely. trading.

I had some CIM, a real estate debt stock that is trading similarly, in huge numbers. Price has been bouncing around at about 3.93, up and down by two or three pennies. But the shares are in the tens of thousands being bought and sold, like 36,000, 43,000, and 98,000. Today, Tuesday, the .17 dividend is at over 17% yield. Must be bored guys day trading, volume is over 12 million.

But i sold my nibble yesterday. It took over an hour to sell 400 shares.

Now, supposing that CIM's dividend STAYS there,17#, and that the US Government's imminent withdrawal from the real estate supports doesn't devastate this stock, a 'little guy" like me would be a fool to have a CD at 2% interest, hey? But when I learned what is a "CDO", the bundling of bad debt with good, I got out of the real estate sector just before the crash, whew!!

I'm not sure when the Government subsidies stop, I know it's soon. I bet there will be a severe drop, and maybe then I'll buy some REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts).

Having said that, I have some SUI, Sun Communities, a southern homes and camper grounds REIT that I'll buy more of on the dips. Right this minute it's up 80 cents for the day. Dividend yields 9.24%

I will make individual forums for stocks eventually, as well as keep on mumbling to myself in this forum.

OK, later!

Very funny, NOT. Looked at Etrade as I usually do not do on a Sunday, and found SDRLF had turned into some weird number with zero value. Yeh, right. They'd better have this sorted out by the Bell tomorrow!

What a week. I'm going to at least half cash. If not 100%, I don't really have that much.

Well, I made it out to half cash, and couldn't stand to have it sitting there, so I bought a few things, FRO the shipper I used to own long ago, they upped their divi quite a bit. I'll just have to keep a closer eye on FRO, as shipping is cyclical, and I will get out when it heads down. JF must need some cash for his three blondes....

I am reading Tuesday, July 5.

I think if it doesn't go too badly, I'll get completely out of the Market for the time being. Too many forcasts of a "double Dip" and I do not want to go through a 2008-9 again!
