We've been cleaning up the house in preparation for company, and I found a sheet of paper with two quotes.

"We are park-ked in the middle of nothing." I have no idea where that is from, maybe a foreign movie?

" I can't fight or shoot a gun, but if things go bad I can spit with deadly accuracy." I think this was from the TV show Bones, Angela offering to help Bones in some confrontation.

I used to have a lot of quotes on my old computer, but saved them all on Word documents- and I don't have Word on my new computer! But here's one I remember:

"Silence will carry your voice like the nest that holds the sleeping birds" Rabindranath Tagore, the first non- European to be awarded the Nobel prize in literature.

What are some of your favorites?

It should be work or hitting the internet. Rolling on the floor laughing I'm supposed to be cleaning the house right now!

"I am an atheist, out and out. It took me a long time to say it. I've been an atheist for years and years, but somehow I felt it was intellectually unrespectable to say that one is an atheist, because it assumed knowledge that one didn't have. Somehow it was better to say one was a humanist or agnostic. I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect that he doesn't that I don't want to waste my time." -Isaac Asimov

Thanks to Woofie, I have some of my quotes available now!

"Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells
upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind."
--Samuel Coleridge

"It's the good girls who keep diaries; the bad girls never
have the time."
--Tallulah Bankhead

and

"When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty.
I only think about how to solve the problem. But when I have
finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong."
--Buckminster Fuller

Hey, you mean you got Open Office and it worked for you? Yea! I got to wondering if you were a Mac person, cause I don't know if Open Office is there for Mac.

I don't know if it's open Office or what, I can't double click on a document to open it, but I can open a Word document with something called Microsoft Works? It might have come with my computer, a PC.

I even found some book quotes!!

"There are worse crimes than burning books. One
of them is not reading them."
--Joseph Brodsky

"When you read a book, you hold another's mind in
your hands."
--James Burke

Oh, that could be! My new laptop came with a trial version of the MS programs, but I got tired of all the little pop-up messages. Open Office is a free program that will allow you to open any Microsoft Office document and save it as either an Office document or as an OpenOffice document. The spreadsheet program in Works doesn't have as many features as the one in Office, and since I'm waaaay too cheap to pay for MS programs, I got the free one. Smiling

It is my all-time favorite book. I haven't read it in a while, though.

Come to think of it, maybe it was Dicken, talking to Mary, quoting his mum? I should read it again, huh? My copy is so old, and I didn't take care of it. ( Crying ) I'm kind of afraid to touch it, at this point, the cover is falling off.

Cheat, and get a copy from the library! I never read it as a child, worse luck, but after hearing several people mention it, I checked it out of our local library. What a delightful story!

Googling the phrase, I get it as a chapter heading.

And I misspelled Dickon's name, and the gardener was Ben Weatherstaff.

Closest I could come to the phrase in the text was this, from Dickon:
"An' we munnot lose no time about it."
