I loved "Sparrow", but then I'm a fan of sci-fi.

Fluff isn't exactly the way I would describe Lisa See's books, with subjects like foot binding and starvation. I'm not sure if I'll read "Dreams of Joy", the sequel to Shanghai Girls", or not. It wasn't a bad book but it just didn't resonate with me.

See what I get for trusting DH? He says S&W only produced a .38 auto for one year. But I do believe it is an uncommon round. Be curious what response you'd get if you walked into a gun store and tried to buy one. Smiling

I'm trusting and gullible, I guess!

That wildfire is so awful. My heart goes out to all the people and animals that have been displaced or are in the path. Jay, that's amazing that you are getting the smoke there, and you are hundreds of miles away.

I saw Ron Woods from the Rolling Stones on Top Gear yesterday, talking about his autobiography, Ronnie. Has anyone read it? It sounded pretty interesting. He has traced his family back to the 1700s or something like that, and he is the first one to be born on dry land- some sort of water gypsies. I was impressed by his interview on the show. He seems very down to earth, funny, nice.

That .38 Super sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? I personally wouldn't mind having a 1911A. Big Grin

Combining Doc and an Asian theme, , one might like Poker Bride by Chris Corbett. About a Chinese girl who was won in poker game to be a wife of someobdy out in the western wilderness-- Wel something like that. I can't swear to the details but Mom liked it and she was picky.

Oh yuck. Not sure I could deal with someone being won in a poker game.
And I prefer revolvers. Point and shoot, no messing with safeties and racking back slides. I personally keep a .357 close to hand. Big Grin
I must be some kind of philistine; all I know about the Rolling Stones is Mick Jagger.

Hee hee, Frank if you need 15 shots, you are in trouble!

Hmmm, maybe we need to start a new thread if Frank is having to wait that long. Think? Or is it every thread on this cubit that's giving you problems, Frank?
