PERRY: Annual Spring Home & Garden Show April 2 & 3, 2011, in Perry, Georgia. Vendors from throughout the southeastern region offering a wide variety of plants, garden tools, pottery, home accents and outdoor living accessories. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions, help with plant selections, provide information to guide your landscape planning, and conduct demonstrations. Our many children's activities include painting projects and creating special garden keepsakes. McGill Building at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry. KENNESAW: Outdoor Dinner and a Movie. Saturday April 9th from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.The Gardens at Kennesaw Mountain “GROW!” tells the story of Georgia’s new generation of young farmers. Hard-working, passionate, often college-educated and rarely landowners, these young people have chosen the life of farmers—for inspiring, and sometimes surprising—reasons. In their 50-minute documentary, filmmaking duo Christine Anthony and Owen Masterson explore these reasons, while tracking the progress of 20 farmers on 12 Georgia farms throughout a growing season. Proceeds from the event will be used to offset costs of distributing and marketing the film at festivals and screenings across the country and in Europe. The cost is $50 per person. Seating is limited to 100. CONCORD: Concord Garden Club Lunch and Learn program. Lunch and Learn starts at 11:30 with a social time and an opportunity to shop with proceeds to support local scholarship projects. Presentation at 12:00. GRIFFIN: Workshop Hypertufa Containers-Beginnner and Advanced UGA Research and Education Garden Saturday April 23, 10 am- 1pm. $35 Create your own hypertufa trough container. Beginner-each participant will mix, pour, and mold a trough container or stepping stone to take home. Advanced-participants of previous basic hypertufa will construct a multi-part hypertufa birdbath. Participants should wear old clothes and bring one pair of heavy rubber dishwashing gloves. Registration fee includes all supplies and materials to make one rectangular trough container, stepping stone or birdbath. Class is limited to 15 participants.
