This is daughter #2. We spread out bath towels on the bed and put the food in the middle . .dove in.

The menu of more than forty empanadas—gives you choices - three different doughs—fried wheat flour, fried corn flour, and baked wheat flour.

Dessert empanadas were over the top coming from this tiny restaurant.
The Fig, Caramel, and Cheese were decadent; you bite into it and the gooey caramel oozes out.
The Chocolate Banana empanada was Yum!

Shredded Beef with onion slow cooked beef marinated in traditional colombian spices; wheat flour shell

Spicy Chicken chunks of chicken breast slow cooked in mama's special picante sauce; wheat flour shell

Shredded Beef with onion slow cooked beef marinated in traditional colombian spices; wheat flour shell

Ground Beef traditional colombian style ground beef;corn flour- deep fried & crispy; we also had a chicken in corn flour shell.

Shredded Chicken sauteed chicken with sofrito sauce, and red peppers; baked whole wheat shell

Beef ground beef sauteed with onions and latin herbs and spices; baked in wheat shell.

About $2.50 each

My daughters, granddaughter, and I occasionally do a girl's trip to NYC. On this last trip we stayed in a boutique hotel in Hell's Kitchen called the Gem.

Daughter #1 usually lays out the itinerary before we go and gives us each a little booklet with all the info. This time I worked on it and researched all our interests.

The theme of this trip was cheap eats. We were going to do NYC on a shoestring budget.

We tasted the Grey Papaya hot dogs and had pizza by the slice everywhere.

Empanada Mama's was on my list and we stopped there on our way home from a long day of shopping.

We ordered a bunch of empanadas and hurried back to the room to dig in!
