Hi everyone!

I got my vanilla orchid as a cutting and don't remember how I rooted it. I think that I just put it in a damp pot of hoya potting medium. I found out later that orchids need special potting medium, so bought some of that and transplanted it.

Then it started growing so I knew I was doing something right. Its now grown about 3 feet and I need to get a new support for it.

I water it once a week (less recently, but I'm fixing that) and it always looks good, sitting in a north facing window. An orchid friend saw it and said that she heard that they need to grow 30 feet before they'll flower. Oh well, I can be patient if I'm forced to, and besides I have lovely hoyas blooming all the time so don't feel bad about how long it'll take. If it takes 30 feet to flower, then I'll rejoice anyway. Its what we hoya people do. Rolling on the floor laughing

Tropicals in Canada

This is a place for Canadians to talk about growing tropical plants (including cactus and succulents, orchids, house plants... In short, all things that can not overwinter outdoors) A place to trade cuttings and seeds, and sell any extra plants
