| I wanted to open a place for beginning artist. I am a beginner myself and I hesitate to post my efforts on the sites with accomplished artist. On this site lets have fun and show our efforts with out stress just fun. I play with acrylics and water color . I have not tried oils yet. Recently I have been trying to do a pencil portrait of my HD. I may not be good but it is fun and I am learning. They say art can be learned. I have made it my goal to see if this is true. Join me here for a fun learning time. How do you choose what to paint? What is your learning source and even is learning art possible or do you have to have natural talents. | a waterfall where my hubby spent his childhood summers. As you can see I pic simple things to try. When they look half way decent I am happy. If the kids like them I am elated and inspired to keep trying. New things at my age keep me moving. shirleyt

| Hey, Shirley. i like to use a picture. I am not asn artist, but If I can trace it, I can paint it. That is how I did my Mule picture and I have several Donkeys I have done. Let me find you something. Some of my pic. has glare from ligt. But gives you idea of what I do. Charleen This is one I have just finished-I think. May need a touch-up.

| One more or you will be running me off. This was what got me started, i believe. it was an article in the newspaper and I liked it so much, I had to paint it. Mule art- Man in Overalls and Friend. Charleen Dog gone Glare again. Got to take it in day light. Gives you an idea.

| The first thing I ever painted was a plywood cut out stand up of Santa for Christmas decor. Two of my friends and I spent a very happy day cutting out and painting it. I still have mine. I displayed it this year. Such fun. I am still learning techniques. I have just been winging it. Now I want to really study and see if I can really learn. | Oh I am so glad I found this cubit! I was thinking of starting something like this myself :) I used to draw a lot in junior high and high school. Then life came along, and I stopped drawing for many years. I was recently inspired to take up the pencil again. Here is my first sketch in almost 20 years:

| I also like to do some computer art (maybe we need a separate cubit for that). This was done only with the Paint program that comes with Windows (c) - no fancy stuff like PhotoShop!

| Yes, I got to change that picture. I want a girlie pic oof me with Charley. Thank you Jeannie, you drawing is very pretty. The mule pic with Red shirt. That was a picture That I liked so much; I felt I had to paint one. The one with the man in overall, I got it out of newspaper. I can draw a little, but have to figure out how to get it down in a way I can paint. Thank you again, love the Daylily. Charleen |

| Nice stuff, all of you! I love the mule over the shoulder. I'd crop it at the top of the light blue background and frame it. That's a keeper. THe composition is just great, as is the expression on the mule. SHirley do you mostly work in watercolor or acrylic? |

| hi Jeannie welcome, I have been hopping from one medium to another trying to find something I can do. I have had more success with the acrylics. This week I have been trying to do a pencil portrait of my husband who passed in Oct. It is therapy for me. I cannot draw very well and I do not know the techniques for water color. It is truly a search the internet for info process for me. I am having fun and just wanted to see what others are doing. You draw really well. I want to try to watercolor one of my amaryllis pictures. I worked really hard on this drawing and it is definitely not right. But much better than I thought I could ever do. I will keep trying. shirleyt

| Taggets that long horn is awesome. I wish I could show that to my hubby. He would love that. His friend used to raise them. This is a pic of hubby that I was trying to draw.
