Truth should be everpresent.
I cannot seem to get motivated to start writing again with so much going on. What are some things you do to keep you at it?

Hi Cajun,

It's been a busy time here too. But late at night before going to bed I always write in my journal.

I keep a little pad of paper with me at all times, always handy. And if I see something or hear something that inspires me, I jot it briefly down in the pad. At the end of the day, I take that phrase or those words and add them to my journal. Sometimes I elaborate on them. Sometimes they lead to an entire paragraph and sometimes they just sit there and do nothing.

But at the end of a week or the end of the month, most of the time I pull from those words some thought or direction for writing. I like to play with words and phrases, so that goes into my journal too.

it's a good way to remember things we think or creative moments that we'll need later.

Sometimes I get tired of working on a lengthy writing project and have to put it aside for awhile and work on something else, but usually my journal inspires me and I can't wait to compile my thoughts into paragraphs or stories or articles.

It's a challenge, but if you're serious about writing and if you have the gift of words, then keeping a written record of them can't be wrong and won't be a wasted effort.

Today I was listing the shades of green I can see in our newly leafed out trees. The play of shadow and light on the greens created so many shades and I had trouble coming up with enough words to describe them. But it helps to challenge the vocabulary, to stretch the imagination.

Try it. You might surprise yourself.

I really hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips and all the encouragement. I did do a bit of rewriting on Chapter 2. Is there a place on this forum I could send it so you could take a look at it for me?

Maybe you could send it to me in a Cmail if you prefer that.
A thread would be public, so whatever you prefer we'll do.
