The pattern below is the original one. For mine I do a starting chain that is a few chains longer on each end than the sponge I plan to use....I do half in Cotton and half in the rug yarn, macrame cord or any rough texture yarn so that I have a nice absorbent side and a Scrubbie side. Materials: polyester rug yarn "I" hook kitchen sponge-2 7/8"wX4 5/8"T To Make: Row 1:Ch 20 loosely.Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across(19 sc). Row 2:Ch 1,turn.Sc in each st across. Row 3-29:Rep row 2.Do not finish off. Edging: Ch 1,turn.Fold in half.Sc evenly across long and short edges.Sc evenly across fold.Insert sponge.Sc opening closed.Finish off.
