You can do almost anything for 15 m

120 yard bulky wool
16" circular size US 9 knitting needles


3 1/2 stitches per inch


2x2 Rib Knit two stitches then purl two stitches and repeat around always knitting the knits and purling the purls as they face you.

K2tog Knit two stitches together as if they were one.


Adult Size Cast on 80 Stitches
Child size: Cast on 72 Stitches

Being careful not to twist, join into the round and knit 1 round. Place a marker at the beginning of the next round and knit four more rounds.

Work a 2x2 Rib around for five rounds.

Knit every stitch for 20 rounds.

Begin Decrease as Follows:

Round 1: (knit 6, K2tog) repeat around.
Round 2 and all even number rounds: Knit
Round 3: (Knit 5, K2tog, repeat around
Round 5: (Knit 4, K2tog), repeat around
Round 7: (Knit 3, K2tog), repeat around
Round 9: (Knit 2, K2tog), repeat around

Cut yarn leaving an 18 inch tail. Weave tail through the remaining stitches, pull snug, secure and weave tails into the inside of the hat.
