I'm going to make a meditation shawl for a friend of mine, & I love that pattern. Do you have a link you can share?

I just learned how to crochet this last spring... this is the afghan I'm working on now... it's for my sister who is struggling with addiction & its health effects...

Should I block the granny squares before joining them?

I mostly plan on doing charity crochet. Here's the first Project Linus blanket I made...

Thanks! Smiling
These bright colors aren't really my style, but I find them cheerful. Emerald green is my sister's favorite color, & it was a trick finding another color to go with it that made it pretty & soothing. Boy, do I want her to calm down & relax! Hilarious!

As far as blocking the squares before joining, I never do. One, because I join stitch to stitch so it's not really necessary, and Two, because I'm lazy!

Oh good... I wasn't planning on it for the very same reasons you mention Hilarious! but then I looked at a book in the local yarn store & that author said to. Shall I just write that person off as an over-achiever?

Anybody else want to throw their 2ยข in before I reach my final decision? Ears perked up!

I don't block them either too darn lazy and hate putting them together nayway so the quicker it is done the better. I'm working on a small baby afghan now that's in blocks not going to block them just going to either sew them up or crochet them together whatever suits my mood when I get to it. 2 more blocks before it's ready for that step.

And here's a recent project just finished last night

I just couldn't imagine pinning 50+ blocks to my bed while they dried... Sticking tongue out OMG... looks like I'm mainstream on this one; I have to go put my head between my knees & take a few deep breaths!

Mindy, that's lovely... Thumbs up

I've started on a ripple afghan now...

Only thing I have to worry about is stitching the blocks together too tightly; sigh, have the same problem with my crocheting coming out tighter than it's supposed to be. Does that mean I'm uptight? Hilarious!

I have a problem with the corners pulling away from each other...
does that mean I'm coming apart at the seams?! Hilarious!

I put in a few extra stitches at the corners.....just to prevent coming apart at the seams; which I would definitely do after all that work! Hilarious!

I make an "X" in the corners when I stitch them together. Don't find many holes that way.

Woofie sounds like your tension is tight. Try using next size hook up and see if that suits you better.
I stitch corners extra good darn if I want them coming apart on me.
