Ha, ha, using a bigger hook just makes bigger tight stitches! Big Grin Actually, as my hands get older (but never the rest of me! Hilarious! ) it's not so much of a problem, since I can't keep my death-grip on the yarn the way I used to!
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

I realized I haven't shown anything for a long time! Here are a few things I've made recently.

Here's a hat and pair of booties for my Great Niece who was 1# 9 oz when she was born in October! She's now up to 3.5 pounds, and hopefully will get to come home in mid January ;)

Here's a few headbands for same Niece

Hi Barb, we have really missed you. Things are going okay...lots of financial issues but I have a lot of good friends here who keep me sane. Laura and I are running a Thrift Store for the local Eagles. We are having a wonderful time with some really good people.

How wonderful. I've been busy too. Norm has had a couple more run ins with the melanoma which has lept us busy and then I had my gall bladder out finally!!! I'm still busy quilting and only recently picked up my hook again. Know what you mean with the financial problems - same here. Looking for a cheaper place to live as I type....It's been a while but I must inquire about the family. Is your Mom still next door? And your family too - is everyone well- no flu??? Take care and I will try to pop in here more often.....

Hi, I've been lurking. Big Grin
Here's what I've been working on...
Thumb of 2013-03-11/DonkeyJay/ae5314

Finished the blocks last summer & put it down. Finally getting around to piecing it together. It's going to my niece in college.

I'm also working on a reader's shawl for another friend made of mitered squares. I'm using Lion Brand's Amazing in Rainforest. I just washed it & it's on the blocking board, so it doesn't look nice for a picture yet. But I love the yarn.

Yes. I wanted to learn how to do the stitches for an aran afghan, & figure out if I could make an aran. I love them, but they look so complicated.

Thanks, I fiddled w/the colors from the original pattern, which tended towards urban drab*. I was limited by what was available at our local WalMart.

*Which has always struck me as "Hey, I live in a grey & black concrete jungle, let's liven it up w/some grey & black & get REALLY wild w/some brown." Native peoples who lived in monochrome environments used a wide range of colors to brighten up their clothing & surroundings. What happened?! Confused

Where in New Mexico are you located? We used to drive from Albuquerque up through the pass to Colorado Springs every other weekend!!! It is beautiful country and so very different from what we were used to coming from New England. I think one of the things I missed most were the trees!!!!!
