I want to do those, then get the leather soles that they have at my local knit shop and make some up for Christmas presents for the guys...they are difficult to find things for.

You can also use puff paint on the bottoms of slippers to help make them non skid. A friend of mine uses it on the bottoms of her kids pj's that she sews with feet in them. She likes making her own designs on them Hilarious!

Trisha,
does your local knit shop have a web site? I have been hunting some of the soles. I have patterns that call for them and don't know where to get them. If any one knows tell me please. Smiling

guess I'll finally have to finish my son's afghan and post it here!

y'all have so many wonderful, truly great pieces on here.

Does anyone know where to buy a cotton thread that's about the size of a twine? My college "big sister" used to make these market bags out of it, and I'm going to write her about making some. But I dont' know where to find such a thread locally. She lived in New England.

Carolyn, my shops site is just for address info and listing classes...but here is a link for for some leather soles...

http://www.earthsongfibers.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPa...

Bon I make market bags from the peaches and cream cotton on the large spools...or heavy weight mercerized crochet thread...or white twine from the hardware store. They had a beautiful bag at Canvas Works yesterday but I didn't have a chance to ask what they made it out of or to get the pattern but I do plan on checking it out next time I can get down there.

Trisha - is the market bag basically double crochet? Approximate dimensions?

On mine (not the site pattern) I did the bag in all double then switched to singe for the handle. The round base is 12" across....from the edge of the base to the top of the body is 13" then the handle is 15". You can adjust to any size you want just increase or decrease the number of rows..... The pattern they gave is a child lunch bag size...I needed a "Lot of Groceries" size Whistling
