You are viewing a single post made by firefly in the thread called new type yarn (for me anyway).
|A lady I know that just came back from Germany was wearing a unique scarf. She got the yarn there and made a boa type scarf. The yarn was crocheted lace and it was quite lovely.
I got on line and found several similar type yarns. (hers was only on sites that are non-english) I purchase a few samples and this is what I got so far.
Her yarn was "on line Linie 297 deco-color" 100 gram
Here is what I have in the picture.
The pink yarn is "Flounce metallic" (purchased from Virginia) the black and silver is "Katia Ondas Lux" from West Yorkshire. I have more coming and am excited to see the difference in the yarns. I purchased these and some others yet to arrive from ebay. The stuff from overseas was actually cheaper, each scarf running around 12-16 dollars.
These two yarns were a woven type crochet but still lovely, but not as grand as the original.
One 100 gram ball makes a scarf. You used the edge of the "yarn" putting loops of the edge on your needle for cast on , 6 stitches, and then garter stitch, by grabbing loops on the edge and pulling them through. You leave about an inch between loops that you use, making it ruffle.
Something different, at least for me and thought I would share. I thought they would make nice gifts.
